Batch Action: Metafield Without Definition - Manual Action Required

Description:

Metafield data exists without a "Definition." Malcom requires a definition for all metafields mapped in Malcom.

Due to a limitation with Shopify's API, we cannot create a Metafield Definition automatically when metafield data already exists in Shopify.
How to Recover:

To resolve the "Batch Action," you must add the metafield definition with the proper type:

In Malcom: 

  1. Remember the "type" indicated in the instructions 
  2. Click on the link in the batch action for the namespace.key metafield to open Shopify.

In Shopify:

  1. Fill in the "Name" as you desire
  2. Click "+ Select Type"
  3. Choose the "type" indicated in Malcom's action instructions
  4. Scroll down and click "Save"
  5. In the popup, click "Save Definition." You can now close your Shopify tab.
  6. See "Notes" for the two exceptions that may occur.

Return to Malcom: 

  1. Mark the Batch Action as "Resolved" by clicking "Mark Resolved"
  2. If you have completed all actions, you can "Dismiss And Rerun Sync"
Notes:

Unable to select the required type

In some cases, you cannot add a definition for the attribute type required by Malcom. In these cases, you should just use "Single Line Text Field" to create the definition and then Delete the Metafield Definition with its saved values.

Invalid metafield values (type conflict in Shopify)

In some cases, the attribute type you select will be in conflict with the values that already exist in Shopify for that metafield namespace and key. In these cases, you must Delete the Metafield Definition with its saved values.
